Decatur Fire Department is host to multiple Special Operations teams. With three Class I railroads, a city heavy with industry, Lake Decatur, the Sangamon River, and an airport able to handle wide-body aircraft. DFD proudly serves the cities residents with specialized training in:
Hazardous Materials
Team members are trained to deal with chemical spills, gas leaks and other situations involving hazardous materials.
SCUBA/ Dive Team
DFD is available to respond to water related emergencies utilizing multiple sized watercraft. DFD responds for dive rescues as well as recoveries.
Technical Rescue
DFD responds to Trench, Confined Space, Collapse, and High Angle rescues involving ropes.
