Highlights of City Council budget study session #2
Decatur, IL – The Decatur City Council continued its review of the 2024 proposed City budget during a study session on Wednesday night. This was a special meeting and no action was taken.
These individual budgets and topics were covered: IT, Transportation Services, and Public Works – water operations, storm & sanitary sewer, and other capital projects. Council also discussed additional revenue options for 2024. Highlights from the discussion are here

Community Garden coming to Johns Hill neighborhood
Decatur, IL – A new community garden will beautify and supply fresh fruits and vegetables to the Johns Hill neighborhood for years to come. The Southside Improvement Association (SIA), City, ADM, Block by Block, and Johns Hill School are collaborating to create a community garden. Read more about the project here

Ribbon cut on Carrie Lane Supportive Housing
Decatur, IL – The Decatur Regional Chamber of Commerce helped Woodford Homes and the Macon County Mental Health Board cut the ribbon on Carrie Lane Supportive Housing this week. The facility will soon provide safe, affordable, independent housing options for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities – much needed in our community!
Country Club boat ramps and Lost Bridge boat ramps removed for season
Decatur, IL – The Country Club boat ramps and the Lost Bridge boat ramps on Lake Decatur will be removed this week and closed for the season. This is due to low water levels, caused by a lack of rain, evaporation, and usage. Boaters may still access the lake using the Nelson Park boat ramps.
