The Decatur Police Auxiliary Unit is a non-profit organization. It’s members comprise men and women from the community who volunteer their time to assist the Decatur Police Department and serve the Citizens of Decatur, Illinois. These men and women complete a four month training program prior to becoming Auxiliary Officers. As trained professionals they provide the Decatur Police Department with additional resources assigned to a variety of responsibilities such as parades and community events. These parades and events include, but are not limited to, the Decatur Celebration, the Macon County Fair, Armed Services Parade, Community Clean Up, Special Olympics, Autumn Shoreline Classic, Fourth of July Celebration, St. Patrick’s Day Parade, Celebration Parade, Labor Day Parade and the annual Christmas Parade. Auxiliary Officers also perform ride along as second officers with full time Decatur Police Officers to assist them during patrols. During 2013, your Decatur Police Auxiliary Officers contributed over 7300 hours of volunteer service to the community.

With your tax deductible donation, you can help support our volunteer organization with uniform and equipment needs and future training opportunities.
