Senator Durbin visits Decatur Public Transit

Decatur, IL – U.S. Senator Dick Durbin visited the Decatur Public Transit campus today to learn more about our zero-emissions transition plan. Senator Durbin and Congress are supporting this transition with a $16.8 million federal transportation grant. Combined with a state grant and ARP funds, we are investing $22 million to overhaul our facilities and vehicles as we work towards a zero-emissions fleet by 2035. The combined grants will support things like new electrical infrastructure for charging stations, solar panels that can provide energy for transit facilities, as well as money for workforce development to train a local workforce in these ever-increasing alternative energy technologies.
