Due to the declining bridge’s condition, the City of Decatur will be closing the westbound lane of the Center Street bridge over Stevens Creek on Wednesday, November 20, 2019. Westbound and eastbound traffic will still be permitted to use the bridge, but only one lane will be open. Traffic travelling either direction must stop at the stop sign before the bridge and yield to oncoming traffic crossing the bridge before proceeding across. Please use caution when approaching the bridge and follow the direction of the signs and other traffic control posted. This lane closure is in effect indefinitely. The bridge is located along W. Center Street to the west of Hunt Street and to the east of Elizabeth Street. There will no longer be any weight limit posted for the bridge, but overweight loads will still not be permitted.
