Elected Officials Sworn in Monday

Newly elected Decatur City Council leadership that includes two incumbents and two newcomers was sworn as part of a relatively light city council agenda Monday night.

Mayor Julie Moore Wolfe and returning council member Pat McDaniel, the newly elected David Horn and Chuck Kuhle took the city’s official oath of OFFICE at the beginning of the council’s regularly-scheduled council meeting. During the meeting council members also unanimously selected Councilwoman Dana Ray to serve as Mayor Pro Tempore, a position that serves in place of the Mayor when she is absent.

Under the new business portion of the meeting, members voted 6-1 to approve a contract in the amount of $92,700 to remove 93 trees at various locations throughout the city, most of which are ash trees that are large, dead or dying that have been attacked by the Emerald Ash Borer and have been identified as potential hazards.
