Decatur awarded $10 million for Brush College Road Overpass project

Decatur, IL – Today the City welcomed back Governor JB Pritzker and Illinois Department of Transportation Secretary Osman to Decatur for the announcement of IDOT’s Illinois Competitive Freight Program. Decatur’s allocation of the $200 million investment is the last piece needed for the $75 million overpass, which can finally get started soon, eliminating the notorious bottleneck at the Brush College & Faries Parkway intersection.

“This project has been a long time coming, with the City, Macon County, and business & labor partners joining together to make this a priority,” said Decatur Mayor Julie Moore Wolfe. “Thanks to Gov. Pritzker and IDOT Secretary Osman, this grant bridges the funding gap and turns this priority into a reality. From the union workers who will build this, to the plant workers in our industrial sector, to students at Richland, along with new business that are building here, our community will benefit greatly from this overpass, and we can’t wait to see it completed.”
The project should go out for bid this year late summer or in the fall. Read more here
