City swears in 10 new Decatur Police Officers
Decatur, IL – Today the City welcomed 10 new Patrol Officers to the Decatur Police Department. Cole Boehm, Jeffery Calvert, Justis Coventry, Tory Owens, Nicholas Pulkrabek, Kyle Purcell, Eleodoro Roman, Samantha Webb, Travis Wolfe, and Benjamin Woolridge were all sworn in. Decatur, IL – The regularly-scheduled Decatur City Council meeting on Tuesday, January 3, 2023 has been cancelled. The City Council will convene for a Study Session on Monday, January 9, 2023 and a regular City Council meeting will occur on Tuesday, January 17, 2023. Please note the next regular meeting on Jan. 17 is a Tuesday and not a Monday because of the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday.

City Water Services temporarily delayed due to cold-weather incidents
Decatur, IL – Certain water services from the City of Decatur will be temporarily delayed after multiple emergency incidents during the recent freezing conditions. City government offices closure – Dec. 22-23
Decatur, IL – For the safety of our employees, our first responders, and the general public we will keep the City Offices closed tomorrow on Friday the 23rd. The temperatures are sub zero and the wind-chill will likely remain near -20 tomorrow. We will encourage you and all of Decatur to stay home unless necessary, due to the risk it poses.
Decatur, IL – The City of Decatur would like to notify the public that City government offices at the Decatur Civic Center will close early at 3:30pm on Thursday, December 22, 2022, due to poor visibility and frigid temperatures. Certain City staff can still be reached via telephone or email.
We apologize for any inconvenience this causes our citizens, but hope individuals will choose to stay home if they can. Citizens can still utilize the City’s website – www.decaturil.gov – to pay bills and conduct business with the City.
Decatur Public Transit operations will continue as normal today unless otherwise notified.
City offices will still be closed on Monday, December 26, in observance of the Christmas holiday. All offices should resume normal operations on Tuesday, December 27.
