Decatur, IL – The Country Club boat ramps and the Lost Bridge boat ramps on Lake Decatur will be removed this week and closed for the season. This is due to low water levels, caused by a lack of rain, evaporation, and usage. Boaters may still access the lake using the Nelson Park boat ramps.

Decatur receives $750,000 USDA urban forestry grant
Decatur, IL – Hundreds of trees will be planted throughout urban Decatur over the next several years thanks to a federal grant from the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA). The five-year project will invest $150,000 in urban forestry projects each year in Decatur, increasing the existing tree inventory of both entities by planting hundreds of additional trees each year. City of Decatur Forestry crew will be mowing the hillsides from the 1900 to 2100 Block of N. 22nd St., beginning Tuesday, October 3, 2023. This work will cause the closure of the South Bound Outside Lane from the 1900 to 2100 Block of N. 22nd St. (Underpass), starting at 7:30 a.m., Tuesday, October 3, 2023, until 10:30 a.m. and the North Bound Outside Lane from the 1900 to 2100 block of N. 22nd St. (Underpass), starting at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 3, 2023, until 2:30 p.m. Signs, cones, and an arrow board will be present in the work zone area. Decatur Police swear in 6 new officers
Decatur, IL – The Decatur Police Department recently swore in 6 new officers. These officers pictured (left to right) are: Ashlyn Bennett, Riley Brelsfoard, Zachary Harding, Carlans Nance, Darrien Vance, & (Not Pictured) Sarah Heatherton. Sarah Heatherton and Darrien Vance have prior Law Enforcement experience and will begin the field training program. The rest will report to the Macon County Law Enforcement Training Center on September 5th. Congratulations to all!
