Road Closure June 3-9, 2024

Brush College and Faries Parkway –

William Charles Construction will be conducting jack and bores at Norfolk Southern and Canadian National Railroad beginning Monday, June 3, 2024.  This work will cause Faries Parkway to remain open one lane westbound/right hand turn lane, one lane eastbound, and a left-hand turn lane.  Brush College Road will remain open one lane northbound, one lane southbound/left hand turn lane, and one right hand turn lane.  Brush College Road is still closed south of Faries (open to local traffic only), starting 7:00 a.m., Monday, June 3, 2024, and will continue to approximately 7:00 a.m., Monday, June 17, 2024. Road Closure May 20-26, 2024

N. Graceland –

City of Decatur concrete crews will be making road repairs in the 2400 block of N. Graceland Ave, between W. McKinley Ave and Maple Ct., beginning Monday, May 20, 2024.  This work will cause the closure of both lanes to thru traffic in the 2400 block N. Graceland, between W. McKinley Ave. and Maple Ct. , starting at 7:30 a.m., Monday, May 20, 2024, until 12:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 21, 2024.  Detour route for thru traffic will be as follows:  take Maple Ct. and go North onto N. Maple Ave. to W. N. Country Club Rd. –

City of Decatur tree crews will be removing a tree in the 300 to 500 blocks of N. Country Club Rd, between E. William St and E. North Fork Rd., beginning Wednesday, May 22, 2024.  This work will cause the closure of both lanes to thru traffic in the 300 to 500 blocks of N. Country Club, between E. William St. and E. North Fork Rd. , starting at 7:30 a.m., Wednesday , May 22, 2024, until 3:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 22, 2024. Eastbound and westbound E. William St. traffic will use N. Excelsior St. Northbound traffic on N. Airport Rd will use N. Excelsior St or N. Country Club Rd. Signs and Cones will be present to direct traffic. W. Imboden Dr. –

Burdick Plumbing will install a watermain located at W. Imboden Dr., from Medial Dr. to S. Franklin Street Dr. beginning Wednesday, May 22, 2024.  This work will cause partial closure of W. Imboden Dr., from Medial Dr. to S. Franklin Street Dr. starting 7:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 22, 2024, and will continue to approximately 5:00 p.m., Friday June 14, 2024.  Motorist should slow down and use extreme caution and are encouraged to seek an alternate route around the work zone.  A detour route will direct traffic through Medial neighborhood as needed. W. Leafland Ave. –

Entler Excavating Co., Inc.. will be performing a road removal located at W. Leafland Ave., between N. Edward St. and N. Union St. beginning Wednesday, May 22, 2024.  This work will cause complete closure of W. Leafland Ave., between N. Edward St. and N. Public Works Equipment Show – May 20, 2024

Decatur, IL – The City of Decatur will host a touch-a-truck equipment show to kick off Public Works Week on Monday, May 20, 2024 from 4:30 to 5:30pm in front of the Decatur Civic Center. The public can view and climb inside newer City vehicles: tree truck, street sweeper, backhoe, vactor truck, and more. Learn from employees how the vehicles/equipment help maintain Decatur streets and other infrastructure. National Public Works Week takes place May 19 through May 25.

CONO Public Safety Panel – Saturday, May 11

The Coalition of Neighborhood Organizations (CONO) is hosting a public safety panel on Saturday, May 11, 2024 in the Children’s Auditorium at the Decatur Public Library from 2:00 to 3:00pm. Officials from the Decatur Police Department and Macon County Sheriff’s Office will be in attendance. It is a free event with light refreshments.
