Decatur Councilman Adam Brown

Councilman Brown Councilman Adam Brown is a fifth-generation family farmer from Decatur. He is a graduate of Warrensburg-Latham High School, Richland Community College, and the University of Illinois Champaign. Brown is currently completing a Master’s in Public Administration degree through the University of Illinois Springfield. Brown is a deacon at Illini Congregational Church and a volunteer for Reach Prison Ministry. Adam Brown serves as a Committeeman for the Macon County Farm Bureau’s Young Farmers. He is a member of the Decatur Aero Club and the Experimental Aircraft Association Chapter 274, where he volunteers as a Young Eagles pilot.

Adam Brown formerly served the United Stated Department of Agriculture’s APHIS division in Champaign, and Foreign Agricultural Service in Washington D.C. Brown has been heavily involved politically, volunteering for Congressman Aaron Schock, State Representative Bill Mitchell, and former State Senator Duane Noland. Brown also served as a volunteer for SummerStart and the Decatur Celebration.

Brown was recognized as one of the Central Illinois Business Journal’s Top 20 Under 40, by the USDA’s Spot Award for dedication to service, and was honored to be the graduation speaker at Richland Community College.

At 23, Brown is the youngest person ever to be elected to the Decatur City Council. Adam Brown is serving his first four year term as City Councilman (May 1, 2009 to April 30, 2013).
